Proud to Present

I have been asked to present my research about representation in comics on various platforms. From the Undergraduate Symposium to local libraries, I have been recognized as an authoritative figure on representation in literature, specifically comic books, and children's literature.

Although not on camera, I have my work available to look through.

Academic Presentations

Undergraduate Symposium 2018

I was asked to present my research about comic books at Eastern Michigan University's Undergraduate Symposium in 2018.

I was asked to do this presentation because of the quality of research I provide. I worked on this for 4 months and was one of a two students Professor Nataša Kovačević selected to present. My overall argument was the inclusion of Comics into the literary medium. Centered on representation and enticing reluctant readers with images, comics are often seen as a children's medium. But this is not the case.

Garden City Library 2016

Garden City Library in Garden City, Michigan asked me to present some of my research during a Nerd Nite.

In Fall of 2016, I was asked to visit Garden City Library during one of their popular Nerd Nites. I was asked to discuss how representation in comic books have effected readers and how we perceive comics. I was asked to participate because of my love for the topic and my ability to connect to an audience. My research is also thorough and easy enough for children to understand, which was a little surprising.
